8 patterns plus extra info. 2 gauges are given with each pattern so that the socks may be knitted on standard, mid-gauge or bulky machines. Passaps can use the standard instructions. One gauge is definitely for standards/Passaps, the other for bulkies. Mid-gauge machines choose the one of these that works best for the individual machine. Most mid-gauges can knit at least one, sometimes both versions.
