FREE PATTERN-ADDI FOOTBALL HAT
This is not to wear to football games or while playing football, although you may. It is named because the first step in finishing the hat when it comes off of the machine is to draw in each end, making it resemble a football. The hat is fully lined and very warm. Here’s how to make it on the Addi King:

Use worsted weight yarn to knit twice the number of rounds one would normally use for a hat, excluding the brim. This hat is 66 rounds. Gather off the final end as usual. Draw it in and knot securely. Use the cast on thread to gather the other end in the same manner. Fold the hat and stuff one half inside the other so that the two gathered points meet. Use the yarn tails to stitch the gathered ends together. Work a round of single crochet into the fold at the brim, followed by two rounds of half double crochet. More may be added if you wish. Use the crocheting to firm up the lower edge of the hat and to adjust it for a perfect fit. The yarn shown is a Deborah Norville Everyday worsted with a self patterning design. This is a very nice acrylic yarn that knits well on the Addi.

PARTS LIST FOR THE REPLACEMENT ADDI CRANK

Parts list for replacement Addi crank.

This is the crank Jack shows you how to make in the YouTube video. It does work well. If you make one, remember these cautionary notes: 1) support the crank when not in use.It is heavier than the original and we don't want to stress the shaft. 2) you must crank with the machine at the edge of the table or the crank will not rotate. 3)Altering any machine voids the warranty. 4) Don't be too speedy. This could damage the machine. Just be happy that it is now less tiring to crank at the same speed.
