Pattern is based on getting 8 stitches/" using a #1 sock yarn. Begin with a swatch to determine that you are matching stitch gauge. Also take a row gauge measurement but consider it tentative.  We can refine it later.

Choose a circumference based on the measurement around your door at the widest point. From the true measurement, subtract 1/2". Now select the closest measurement from those below.

7.5" use 60 pegs
8" use 64 pegs
8.5" use 68 pegs
9" use 72 pegs
9.5" use 76 pegs
10" use 80 pegs
10.5" use 84 pegs
11" use 88 pegs
11.5" use 92 pegs

1.Cast on using the double e-wrap.
2.Knit at least 15 rows of your choice of ribbing or 30 rows of stockinette hem.
3. Knit to the desired length for the sock top, placing a yarn marker every 10 rows.
4. Work the heel on half of the total pegs by short rowing in to the peg count given, then out again. The peg count and shortest row are shown below.

7.5" use 30 pegs, shortest row=10
8" use 32 pegs, shortest row=10
8.5" use 34 pegs, shortest row=12
9" use 36 pegs, shortest row=12
9.5" use 38 pegs, shortest row=14
10" use 40 pegs, shortest row=14
10.5" use 42 pegs, shortest row=14
11" use 44 pegs, shortest row=16
11.5" use 46 pegs, shortest row=16

5. Resume knitting in the round until the sock top with its marker emerges far enough that it's not under stress. Pull it lengthwise,  then widthwise, then lengthwise again to set the stitches and measure row gauge. To do so, measure the exact length down 40 rows of the sock top. Divide 40 by the measurement.  Example: the 40 rows measure 3.25".
40÷3.25=12.3
This means you are knitting 12.3 rows/"
Multiply the result, 12.3 in our example, by actual foot length. If the foot to be fitted is 10" long, our example sock needs to be 123 rows long. Since the heel and toe have contributed rows, subtract those rows from the total. A chart with the numbers to subtract is given below. In the example, we'd subtract 52, leaving us 71 plain rounds to knit between heel and toe.

7.5" subtract 40
8" subtract 44
8.5" subtract 44
9" subtract 48
9.5" subtract 48
10" subtract 52
10.5" subtract 56
11" subtract 56
11.5" subtract  60

Knit the toe as the heel was knitted. Close the toe with Kitchener stitch.

Sample socks in the video are knitted for an 8" circumference  and an 8 7/8" length. They are made on 64 pegs, shortest rowed in on the toe and heel to 10 pegs. The foot portion is 74 rounds long.
