NO-ROLL SCARF WITH "CABLE"

The scarf begins with a piece of straight knitting approximately 10" wide and becomes a doubled scarf 4-4.25" wide. Choose a chain stitch method for both the cast on and bind off.

If your stitch gauge is 4[5, 6, 7, 8] per inch, cast on 40[50, 60, 70, 80] stitches. Knit straight to whatever length you wish. Row count should be a multiple of 3 for the cable to come out perfectly. Therefore, if you want a 30[40, 50, 60, 70]" long scarf, knit _____ rows. Fill in the blank from the information below.

If row gauge is 5 per inch knit 150[201, 252, 300, 351] rows.
If row gauge is 6 per inch, knit 180[240, 300, 360, 420] rows.
If row gauge is 7 per inch, knit 210[282, 351, 420, 492] rows.
if row gauge is 8 per inch, knit 240[321, 402, 480, 561] rows.
If row gauge is 9 per inch, knit 270[360, 450, 540, 630] rows.
If row gauge is 10 per inch, knit 300, 402, 501, 600, 702] rows.
If row gauge is 11 per inch, knit 330[441, 552, 660, 771] rows

When binding off, remember to leave stitches #2, 3, & 4 from each edge loose as shown in the video. Fold the fabric so that the edges of the knitting are touching. Unravel the unsecured stitches 3 rows at a time and latch them up using the herringbone afghan seam, alternating picking up 3 rungs from one ladder with 3 rungs from the other ladder as demonstrated in the video. Secure the final stitches. Flatten the tube that has been formed and stitch the layers together on each end, working right behind the cast on and bind off. Pull lengthwise and widthwise to set the faux cable.
